Poliwrath, the Tadpole Pokémon. Poliwrath is a Water/Fighting-type Pokémon, and it evolves from Poliwhirl when a Water Stone is used. Poliwrath is one of the final evolutions for Poliwhirl, the other being Politoed.
Red, Blue, and Yellow
Poliwrath was introduced in Red and Blue Version. It's #62 in the Kanto and National Pokédex.
Poliwrath cannot be caught. You must evolve a Poliwhirl to obtain Poliwrath.
Poliwrath is the only evolution to Poliwhirl in Red, Blue, and Yellow. Politoed wasn't introduced until Gold and Silver.
Gold, Silver, and Crystal
Poliwrath in Gold and Silver got some new traits. There is now breeding, so Poliwrath can either be male or female, and it's in the Water 1 egg group. Poliwrath can be Shiny as well. Poliwhirl can now evolve into Politoed, a Water-type Pokémon, by trading it with a King's Rock attached, instead of only Poliwrath.
Poliwrath cannot be caught in Gold, Silver, and Crystal. You must evolve a Poliwhirl to obtain Poliwrath.
Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald
Poliwrath cannot be caught in Ruby, Sapphire, or Emerald; you have to trade it from FireRed or LeafGreen. In Ruby and Sapphire, Pokémon got abilities, and Poliwrath's is either Water Absorb or Damp. Water Absorb recovers 25% HP when Poliwrath's hit by a Water-type move, and Damp prevents Exploding or Self Destructing in a battle.
FireRed and LeafGreen
Poliwrath cannot be caught in FireRed or LeafGreen. You must evolve a Poliwhirl to obtain Poliwrath. You can then breed Poliwrath and trade a Poliwag, Poliwhirl, or Poliwrath over to Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald if you want.
Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum
Poliwrath cannot be caught in Diamond, Pearl, or Platinum. You must evolve a Poliwhirl to obtain Poliwrath. If you migrate a Poliwrath from any of the Advance games, you'll find Poliwrath in the Pond area of the Pal Park.
HeartGold and SoulSilver
Poliwrath cannot be caught in HeartGold or SoulSilver. You must evolve a Poliwhirl to obtain Poliwrath.
Black, White, Black 2, and White 2
Poliwrath got a new hidden ability in Black and White, Swift Swim, which makes Poliwrath's speed double when it is raining. Poliwrath can be caught in Wellspring Cave, Challenger's Cave, Victory Road, and the Giant Chasm, after beating the Elite Four and obtaining the National Dex in Black and White. In Black 2 and White 2 you can catch Poliwrath on Routes 23, in the Relic Passage, Clay Tunnel, Wellspring Cave, Giant Chasm, and Victory Road. You must fish with a Super Rod to find Poliwrath.
X and Y
Poliwrath is in full 3D in X and Y! Poliwrath can be caught in Victory Road using the Super Rod. Poliwrath is also one of the Pokémon that got an updated mini sprite for X and Y.
